Welcome to the 2026-27 School Year!

Dear KIPP Chicago Families,

Welcome to the 2026–27 school year!

My heart is full after an energizing first week of school. Seeing the joy on the faces of our KIPPsters and reconnecting with so many of you has been a powerful reminder of what makes KIPP Chicago special.

Our teachers and students have already begun the important work of the year. Classrooms are already filled with meaningful learning, strong relationships are building, and high expectations are being set. We are committed to making every minute count because every minute of learning moves our students closer to the lives and futures they deserve.

Last year, KIPP Chicago students achieved the highest reading growth of any KIPP region in the country. Simply stated, KIPP Chicago is #1! That accomplishment showed us what is possible when talented teachers, determined students, and committed families work together. This year, we are building on that progress through our theme, Literacy to Liberation.

Literacy is more than the ability to read. It gives our students the power to understand the world, question it, navigate it, and ultimately change it. When our children become strong readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators, they gain greater freedom to make choices, pursue their dreams, and shape their own futures. That is the promise of Literacy to Liberation. That is the promise of KIPP Chicago. A promise we will deliver on!

Reaching that promise will require all of us. One of the most important things families can do is ensure that students arrive at school on time and ready to learn each day. Even one absence or late arrival can mean missing important instruction and falling behind. This year, I am asking every family to commit to “10 or Less for Student Success” by helping your child have no more than 10 absences during the entire school year.

When you choose KIPP Chicago, you are choosing a community that sees the greatness in your child, holds high expectations for their growth, and is committed to preparing them for a life filled with opportunity and choice. We are honored that you have entrusted us with your child’s education, and we will work every day to earn that trust.

Thank you for continuing to choose KIPP Chicago. I look forward to partnering with you as we make this a year of learning, growth, and liberation for every KIPPster.

With appreciation,

Rashid Bell
